We are tackle
Rooted in the interdisciplinary design thinking of Köln International School of Design, we follow a human-centered, co-creative and highly visual approach to innovation. We are enthusiastic about using our skills to design for the real world and tackle important social and organisational problems. Consequently, the social and ecological impact of our projects is as important as their economic viability. Following the priciple of ‘win-win or no deal’ we match the needs of both providers and clients, ensuring a sustainable outcome for all stakeholders.
Jan Krause – Co-founder
Jan always keeps an eye out for opportunities and trends at the intersection of design and business. Being an outgoing communicator and design thinker, he takes care of idea generation, concept development and prototyping. As tackle’s lead visual designer, he is responsible for the visualisation of data, e.g. to communicate research insights and final results.
Jan combines his optimistic view with a broad generalist skillset and loves to apply this stance from the first prototype stages through to production. When he is not involved in tackle projects, his information architecture and strategy development skills go into his work as an interaction and conceptual designer. He is also lecturer for service design at Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Schwäbisch Gmünd.
Jan studied at Köln International School of Design (KISD) and graduated in the field of service design with the development of an investment business model that harnesses the business power of design, creating a multi-stakeholder “win-win-win” situation.
With his combined enthusiasm for the outdoors and everything food-related, in his spare time he’ll often run into the woods, only to return with something healthy to cook up later. Yum!
Cordula Brenzei – Co-founder
Cordula is tackle’s project manager, director of research, and lead facilitator during co-creation sessions. She loves to work with people and uncover hidden needs and insights from apparently simple aspects found during observation. Calling her an organisational talent would be understated, so she’s naturally the one in charge of project management at tackle, keeping watch on deadlines and objectives.
In addition to her engagement with tackle, she is lecturer for service design at Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd (HfG) and research scientist at Hof University, where she is teaching the nooks and crannies of service design to media design students and facilitates knowledge transfer of service design and design thinking to local SMEs. Prior to co-founding tackle she cut her teeth as project lead and conceptual designer in the field of communication design.
She graduated in design research and design theory at interdisciplinary Köln International School of Design (KISD) in Cologne. With an ethusiasm for education and people-centered design she set a statement with her diploma theses about how to incorporate design as a subject into the German school system according to it’s relevance for today’s society and an analysis of brand activities in digital worlds from the user’s perspective. In her free time, Cordula keeps her balance paddling her whitewater open canoe on local rivers.
